Davy's Garden

The rippled wave of scythes

Whip and seed the fallen grasses

Resting low a taken stalk

I have seen the grasslands

They know me

For in them are the resting sons and fallen

And the memories of my blood

A Measure of Life

What day

What moment

Would I trade for time

From past to now

An equal measure of life

Some moments

Too obvious precious

Off limits at best

When we met, kissed

Wept for joy, made love

What day

What moment

Would I trade for time

From past to now

An equal measure of life

Perhaps our first big fight

Perhaps the stress of work and school

The night the cat was hit and died

The day we missed the Cancun flight

What day

What moment

Would I trade for time

From past to now

An equal measure of life

Hiding home for those two weeks

we never missed Cancun

The driver who hit kitty

now a dearest friend

Working and school made us

 better smarter organized and strong

And in healing that first fight

 we made a son

What day

What moment

Could

I trade for time

From past to now

All

Equal measures of life

Mohican Requiem

Man is prey my son

Free your mind and know no fear

Wolves are in the trees

Swift prepare your skills

Lest your dread breed not but hate

Lies infect the air

Look toward your home

What can with you walk or stay

Knowing all may go

Choose what lives you save

As the pitiful may come

Options must not fail

Build your body best

Saving more than just a soul

Living mans god wins

Don't neglect to love

Though another tests your will

Peace may have a toll

The Sin Eater

Dine on chilled of sin

With murderous fuel of tears

I have supped the damned

Drunk upon their rage

Draughts of  final vengeance mine

Vile and sweet it's course

Ever famished lord

On these barbecues I roast

Ashen rests the meat

Given just desserts

Each one ravenous consumed

Lost on blades of time

Check forever paid

A digestion is no jest

Heartless burns that pool

Now too late we know

Understanding of this bite

Hate was all but waste

Silent Cage

Covered cages blind beside them

Never calling songs of home

Dragon children

Who would heal them

Born and ever left to roam

Mothers streets are desperation

Nursed on chance and happenstance

Love would feed us

Night will bleed us

Living litter's twilight dance

Fathers call from darkened corner

Come and taste the bread of fear

Hear it in the subtle hiss

Papa needs a little kiss

Altered souls soon disappear

Youth in tribal families prowl

Heed before each coming dawn

Steal your cash

Protect your stash

Bread's the gold of every pawn

God's a thought for masterbation

Words of light and lands so green

A lust for fools

In worlds so cruel

It's just a match for gasoline

Dodge the daily demon dance

Walk the wasteland where I play

Enjoy the scene

Of where I've been

Tip the ghosts and skip away

Departure

Accept we must to rally on
Prepping heart and soul
Know full well the living left
Carry forth the toll

Soon too soon a son is down
Silence overflows
Breakers strike a raging brow
Pain in thundershows

Baring it another dawn
Only by his will
Brief has been the journey
Eternity the kill

Smile firm forgiveness
Enmity is gone
All we'd done is living
Prince as well as pawn

Close your eyes to feel this hand
Resting on your heart
We love you son forever
We're ok you can depart

Service to Forever

Romance bred of passions deep

Largesse to lives grown wise

Visions now beyond the bend

Centered on the prize

Choices once and hasty made

Parents young and bold

Opt to breath a kindred air

Attached with rings of gold

Two to walk a winding world

Never smooth the track

Loves advance to destiny

Unbroken looking back

Grief and pain inclusive

Justice, joy and rest

Sifting false illusions

Blessings for the test

Kingdoms too oft fleeting

In the histories are drown

Tis bonds made firm eternal

Merit deities true crown

Celebration is the gratitude
Of lesser youth made strong
To two who'll live forever
As the lyric of our song

THE ROAD BEYOND PERDITION

IS A STRAIT AND STEADY TRAIL

A TREK ATOP THE TIGHTROPE

TWEEN THE DRAGONS TONGUE AND

TAIL

WITH RAZORED TIP TO CUT YOU

OR HIS BREATH A FIERY GALE

BEWARE LEST YOU SHOULD FALTER

TWEEN THE DRAGONS TONGUE AND

TAIL

THE DRAGON GIVES NO WARNING

ITS HIS QUEST THAT YOU SHOULD FAIL

THE BEST HAVE LOST A BIRTHRIGHT

TWEEN THE DRAGONS TONGUE AND

TIS BOLD DETERMINATION

SEES US SAFELY THROUGH THE VAIL

TO WALK THE ROAD OF HOLY GOLD

TWEEN THE DRAGONS TONGUE AND

TAIL

IF EVER YOU SHOULD FAULTER

SEEK THE ONE WHOS SCARRED BY NAIL

THE FIRST TO STRIDE THE NARROW PATH

TWEEN THE DRAGONS TONGUE AND

TAIL

THE PRICELESS PRIZE IS GLORY

TO WITH ANGELS SIP THE GRAIL

HAVING TREAD THE FINAL GAUNTLET

TWEEN THE DRAGONS TONGUE AND

ITS MY HOPE THAT YOU PREVAIL

Chosen Suns

Alone

Adrift

 A distant sight

Darkness wraps my rising stars

Streaming glory

Choice so clear

These the ones I claim

My own

Bonds do pass and peel away

Alone once more

Yet not

My torches

 Blaze!

Holding shoulder to the sky

I chose the warmth of distant fires

Dared to trust

Fierce reaching beams

Planets dance

Worlds collide

Galaxies disappear

It is the way

Each glimmer holds

A branch in time

I only choose

My Suns

Nightfall

In the end all will service a master

The light or a false shinning sun

Truth can be blind in our sorrow

That the legions of shadow have won

Best hope for by they of the mourning

are mysteries bound to bent knee

A lost ones illusion of glory

shrouding a higher kings plea

Around we have come to full circle

Shades of salvation are real

Wishing to walk as the risen

Who when troubled had only to kneel

Choosing a long journey homeward

Fate and a choice seal the gate

For justice though turning from darkness

Is righteous when faith wakes too late

Risk not the dawn to damnation

For the rights to bear witness the toll

Master please say you've not left me

The night has not taken my soul

Papa's Dreamer

Against my chest like robins breath

Your sighs have set me weeping

What"s your dream my little one

Just three days young a sleeping

Of mysteries old men forget

Of stars and heavens spinning

Racing angels through the mist

Of touching earth and winning

Tying lassos round the moon

Riding balls of thunder

Tasting rainbows after rain

Swimming seas of wonder

Firecrackers in the sun

Snacks on milky way

Floating with the twilight

Waiting for your day

Perhaps it is a present tense

That stirs your infant breast

A thought of your first dawning

And your life's commencing test

I hope you dream of ancient eyes

Whose love you'll never sever

Looking down upon you now

Through you to see forever

Armstrong

Lance you had it on the ball

Sorry it has spread

Cancer in your spirit now

Keep it from your head

Go a mile maybe two

Run it sink or swim

Lead a life of living strong

Get back to the gym

Now you own the journey

Money face and mind

Searching all new answers

Hurt and riding blind

Race is never over son

Justice willed the win

Whipped by act of treason

Tempered hard in sin

Pedal to the medal Lance

Life is just a lease

Leave the sick to shadow

Run the rest in peace

Elements by chancing dance

Playing end to night

Life incarnate splits the void

Pulsing sparks of light

Brilliant wonders breach the deep

Time both here and gone

Mounted furies on the march

Race o'er Rubicon

Ever outward to no end

So as it appears

Bounce upon a mythic wall

Round the ship she steers

Give us grace and gravitas

O' spark that set the course

A bow to your creation

Boy Blue

Before the sun she made her run

I woke and she was gone

Poppa's stare said Guinevere

Had flown to Avalon

At least a month her eyes had died

The reasons no one knew

Dad could never bring her back

His world turned silent blue

Spirits send her home tonight
Silence still the eve

Come and touch A blue boy heart
Love that never leaves

I know it's not an act of love

That left him in the rain

If love is what she thought she'd left

It lives here with his pain

Give him back a little time

Before your leaving nears

Momma hold a moment more

And stay to wipe his tears

Spirits send her home tonight
Silence still the eves
Come and touch A blue boy heart
Love that never leaves

Carry On

Bred to bend but never broke

Made to make a master stroke

Were the answer not a joke
Fate has called as I awoke

Found another torch to tote

Picked a shore and burned the boat

Gonna win that's all she wrote
Glories gain without a vote

Lifted hand to help another

Shining beacon for my brother
Shared the joy among each other

Fires lit no one can smother

Paving ways to understand

Giving all to give a hand

Leaving marks to heal the land
Playing hard to beat the band

Made the world my work of art

Reason clear from end to start

Love it all with all my heart
Fate and I not far apart

Lend yourself to one who tries

See what comes as no surprise
look with clear and wiser eyes

Others soon begin to rise

Born to carry on

Uncle Sam's Lament

Oh my country tis of thee

Why hast thou forsaken me

Working days become the night

A dying dollars final fight

Amber blowing wave of grain

Harvest met to others gain

Days of debt infect the masses

Bondage bankers gifted passes

Ceilings fail on our default

No more credit in the vault

Land of milk and honey gone

Nowhere clear for movin' on

Battle lost without a gun

Not too sure who really won

Economic heart disease

The IRS is now chinese

Bring it back oh president

At least attempt to make a dent

Next one up to take a swing

Time to earn the freedom ring

Spend no more by happenstance

Add some magic to the dance

Make a move both bold and brave

It's just my gold n soul you save

Oliver

Who would say of Ollie's day

My eye's have seen enough

Of silly times and pantomimes

And giggles off the cuff

Eyes too light for shadow

As he wonders at the flies

Toothless grinning minnow

Like a god in all but size

Quick to sound and fury

When the winds won't blow his way

Model for an angel

When the sandman ends the day

Bounce and he is broken

Sing and he'll delight

Born a lovers token

Good night my boy good night

The Warrior Blues

Give me a gun and a barrel of bullets

Blades and grenades to inspire the muse

I'll play you a way to the valley of shadows

And sing you a warriors blues

Fields of the fallen still echo in chorus

lullaby sorrows lost to the years

Many have sung and none left to listen
Bands play hell no human hears

Peasants and privates play the drum slowly

Generals and chaplains step to the fore

Writing on bars in the heights of Valhalla

Lines for a note to the widows of war

Piccolo's speak of a morning marauder

Trumpets arouse in the clashing midday

Strings softly play in a falling finale

On cymbals of rock where forever we lay

Give me a gun and a barrel of bullets

Blades and grenades to inspire the muse

I'll play you away to the valley of shadows

And sing you a warriors blues

Devastation Valentine

Sirens sang and mountains roared

Krakens rose in one accord

Fate awakened on the run

Devil kissed the rising sun

Heroes stand on burning walls

Ghosts at war in flaming halls

Titan saviors facing sin

Kamikazi lose or win

Shaken, stirred, but doin' fine

Head above the waterline

Toxic whipping wind divine

Devastation Valentine

Blind to where they're goin' now

Bow to bones that fed the plow

Fear has fled from men resigned

Father time cannot rewind

One more day to do or die

Calm the way of samurai

Power greater than the pain

Of child's play in acid rain

Shaken, stirred, but doin' fine

Head above the waterline

Toxic whipping wind divine

Devastation Valentine

Overtime to cool a tomb

Pray the cherry blossoms bloom

Lives in trade 'til evils past

Bravery's greatest living cast

Ne'er a one a run away

Honor is the only play

Raise a pillar to the deed

Final gift to those in need

Shaken, stirred, but doin' fine

Heads above the waterline

Toxic whipping wind divine

Devastation Valentine

Hollywood Roulette

Faded sun and rainbow lies

Halos turn to haunted eyes

Shadow days inside me rise

Bullet in the gun

Empty soulless state of grace

All alone is everyplace

Silence raging into space

Bullet in the gun

Monster bound but bearing bite

Blinding stare devoid of light

Numb to fear of wrong or right

Bullet in the gun

Reach for me and hold me brother

Rip me from the darkness mother

Is there one who'd help another

Bullet in the gun

No one knows quite what I've seen

Haven't found a place to lean

Mirrors face has lost it's sheen

Bullet in the gun

Hope no more my little man

Races ran without a plan

Leapt to fire from the pan

Bullet in the gun

Less One?

We're Away

Finally got some money

For a fare from here to there

Gonna grab my milk and honey

Take our time to anywhere

Pack a bag for El Dorado

Catch a flight through Shangri La

Change a plane in Amarillo

Hop a train to Babylon

No one saw us coming

Raise a glass we're on our way

Life's a risk worth running

Come tomorrow we're away

We can walk the Mayan highland

Dance the night in roman rain

Trek the Easter island

Or a land without a name

The seas will part before us

Time will bend and tear

Only stars to guide us

On our trip to everywhere

No one saw us coming

Raise a glass were on our way

Life's a risk worth running

Come tomorrow we're away

We will wash in mighty rivers

We will race the desert dunes

We'll take what fate delivers

Making love to ancient tunes

Throw away that dusty compass

Light the fires with our maps

 Signs can never stop us

As we slip between the gaps

No one saw us coming

Raise a glass were on our way

Life's a risk worth running

Come tomorrow we're away

Gypsy City

Shots like bells awake the bride

Comes a horseman run and hide

Call the diggers heres another

Crack has killed a baby's mother

Love is lost we cry alone

Gypsy city turned to stone

Smoke and powder prophets prey

Teenage dreams are burned away

Beauty fades the midnight tolls

On shattered streets of broken souls

Love is lost we cry alone

Gypsy city turned to stone

Every alley ragged rules

Kings to only rats and fools

Sunshine fails and hides away

Night lit demons laugh and play

Love is lost we cry alone

Gypsy city turned to stone

Love is lost I cry alone
