Winter Warning

Winter night sounds strumming
Winter warning "colds a comin'"
Winter night is here

Coldly it is said
Coldly kin the walk of dead
Coldly breaking seas

Fading seasons down
Fading whispers of a town
Fading calming rush

Silence seeks the night
Silence speaks beneath the light
Silence stills the wonder

Home the wonders crawl
Home with every large and small
Home to hearth and cave

Chimes all set and staged
Chimes now singing songs engaged
Chimes of ice and warning

I Should

I do not think of my mother every day
As I did with my infant mind.
I do not dwell on her reactions to my deeds
As when a tripping youth I'd run astray

Long has it been since wondering what sleep she'd lost
Of teenage nights when midnight seemed an early end
Or pondering the silent prayerful tears she shed
When with sufficient age waged a war upon the wicked world

I seem to bless her in many passing moments now
When the victories and miseries in every sort of news
Prove True the value of her parenthood
And profess the timeless greatness of her deeds

I am just a weave in the vital tapestry of her life
A grateful thread in her masterwork yet undone
A knot made to feel as worthy as any stitch
My proud display is claiming her my own

I do no think of my mother every day

I Should

22 Push Ups

Perhaps we will be nothing
Not sure we don't know why
Ask us not a question
We are nothing pass us by

Treat us like a shadow
Look right through us we are clear
Forget and never love us
Walk away we are not here

Tumbleweeds unnoticed
Hands not made to ready hold
Rolling no direction
Lone wolves walk the bitter cold

Forget me nots set blooming
Push ye up a war torn vet
As 22 consider
The final lifes regret

Princess

Little fairy princess down
Hastened by a nervous clown
Sullied by the prince of fear
Little princess darling dear

Hit the bottom
Shot it up
Fairy princess
Drank the cup

Popcorn questions
Flooding eyes
Ghosts in answers
Spooks and lies

Running furies
Missing dates
Lifetime minutes
Tempting fates

Little princess darling dear
Sullied by the prince of fear
Hastened by a nervous clown
Little fairy princess down

The Weaver

Rise and take comfort
Put to rest this test of fear
Weaving hope to soul

Pain must be dismissed
There will be no cure this time
Weaving hope to soul

Live the greatest gift
Unto those who seek a fire
Weaving hope to soul

Hold to each good thread
Every one a dear embrace
Weaving hope and soul

Teaching earth and sky
To the value of a name
Weaving hope to soul

Love and calling sent
Finest choice to loose or hold
Weaving hope to soul

Pearls

Infinite Wonder
Glory and thanks unto thee
For I am just dust

In celebration
I awake to creation
Each second I stay

Milky way close
I seek afar of marvels
Closer every day

I stand on our rock
Just beneath the breathing sun
Welcomed to the light

Spirits whirl about
Legions threading every sky
Often I feel them

I take all from you
Blessed I am found worthy
Thankful for the way

Soup

You've grown with us for some two years
I've worked here but one more
52 and just 15
I met you at the door

Knew you'd be that special kid
With those dangerous cold eyes
Hair like Fierce Flamingos
And your saddness filled the skies

I was qualified as Father
Poet, manager and ref
But now had higher calling
Teen-soup treatment daylight chef

With you, like oh so many
the ingredients were there
Greater chefs worked all around us
I was blessed to stir the fare

Many soups have been deployed here
Alphabets both hot and cold
Bisques of all the youthful wilds
Bouillon sweet and touched by gold

For you no preconceptions
As I'm told that isn't fair
That day began a journey
For which no one could prepare

Hurt has cut you deeply here
Venting demons often will
Self assessment can be toxic
And the cure a bitter pill

You must know you've seeds of greatness
That have flown a bit off course
Not unique the inconvenience
To the children of divorce

Stand and walk the way to win
It's now you own the show
the world holds many poisons
Drawing moths into the glow

Fight only to be peaceful
Bless a world that needs your smile
Gift us with your music
Set the lights to shame with style

Never hold to liars
Life can be too short
Live within each moment
Sailing strong to every port

If today's the last you see me
As with time all things must cease
This proud old chef is smiling
To have served a masterpiece.

The Keep

Garden, Ruin, Castle, Keep
Each to hold what men shall reap

  Lilies gather, stand, and bloom
Lay the prized possessions tomb

Deep in rubble of what's past
May a worthy trove be cast

Lofted turrets flagged on high
Wealth to worlds of all who fly

Last I think tis to the deep
Far below foundations weep

Garden, Ruin, Castle, Keep
Each to hold what men shall reap

Davy's Garden

The rippled wave of scythes
Whip and seed the fallen grasses
Resting low a taken stalk

I have seen the grasslands
They know me
For in them are the resting sons and fallen

And the memories of my blood

A Measure of Life

What day
What moment
Would I trade for time
From past to now
An equal measure of life

Some moments
Too obvious precious
Off limits at best
When we met, kissed
Wept for joy, made love

What day
What moment
Would I trade for time
From past to now
An equal measure of life

Perhaps our first big fight
Perhaps the stress of work and school
The night the cat was hit and died
The day we missed the Cancun flight

What day
What moment
Would I trade for time
From past to now
An equal measure of life

Hiding home for those two weeks
we never missed Cancun

The driver who hit kitty
now a dearest friend

Working and school made us
 better smarter organized and strong

And in healing that first fight
 we made a son

What day
What moment
Could
I trade for time
From past to now
All
Equal measures of life
